Sources for Parts:  Following is a list of sources that sell parts for these cars:

§         Ferrillo Marketing GroupCross flow head, MSX camshaft, Weber DCOE 45 carbs, intake manifold, roller rockers, high performance distributors, starters, wire wheels, miscellaneous other items; EXCELLENT prices, great service; I got the same Pierce head, cam, and manifold as Moss sells for more than $1,000 LESS!; Dr. Martin (Marty) Ferrillo 516-978-6161 (cell); call anytime; he’s a medical doctor who drives MGBs and owns this British parts business; if he’s busy, he will call you back quickly; MartinGF@aol.com http://www.britishstarters.com  (starters only, email him for current prices on other items); see the My 78 MGB Performance Engine page on this website for examples of "Doc" Ferrillos's products.

§         Advanced Performance Technology (APT)Racing/Performance engine pistons & internals, 190,000 psi bolts & studs, high performance oil & water pump, etc.  Dave Anton (800) 278-3278; their website is difficult to use, but their people are super helpful on the phone;  http://www.aptfast.com

§         Northwest ImportsPistons, rings, Monza exhaust system and many, many other parts; great prices and helpful people; these guys drive MGBs to work and know a lot about them; always try them first, as their prices beat almost everybody else; 10042 SW Balmer, Portland, OR  97219 503-245-3806; Steve: sales@northwestimportparts.com

§         NOSLocatorNew & rebuilt British shocks and other parts; good prices and helpful people; home page - http://www.nosimport.com; Contact Us page - http://www.nosimport.com/currentform.htm

§         MG Experience MG Owners Tech Tips Website; Great help in all areas;  includes a list of shocks here http://www.mgexperience.net/article/rear-shock.html that can replace the moss kit supplied shock and also he mentions Monroe Sensi-Trac 5877ST as the one he chose for his conversion, anyway a whole bunch of info there..

§         Little British Car CompanyA Moss Distributor selling anything Moss does plus many parts that are hard to find elsewhere; to use them, go to the Moss Motors site (Moss has everything but is expensive), find the part, use the Moss  part number, then go to LBCarCo’s site and enter the part number… you’ll automatically get the same part at a substantial discount. Here I got such things as engine parts, an over-length self-triggering hoot prop, gas trunk prop, MG-octagon-logo seatbelt strap pads, dash gauges & switches, neat cup holders that fold down, and a host of others.  Most everything done by email, but owner is extremely responsive and very helpful – he’s an MGB owner and driver; Jeff Zorn 800-637-9640, 29311 Aranel, Farmington Hills, MI  48334-2815; LBCarCo@LBCarCo.com http://www.lbcarco.com/

§         British Parts NorthwestLowered front & rear springs and MANY other miscellaneous parts; decent prices; sales people are not particularly knowledgable nor helpful; 503-864-2001 4105 SE Lafayette Hwy., Dayton, OR  97114; sales@bpnorthwest.com http://www.bpnorthwest.com/

§         Victoria British Full array of parts (almost as many as Moss); very wide selection; decent prices; unhelpful & unknowledgeable customer service people; difficult to use website; GOOD catalog; 800-255-0088, 14600 W. 107th Street, Lenexa, KS  66215; http://www.victoriabritish.com/features/MG/MG-1978-MG-MGB.htm

§         Moss Motors They have virtually everything; great website – I use it daily, but seldom order from them, as their prices are anywhere from 20% to 100% higher than competitors; they DO have items that nobody else has (superchargers, electronic fuel injection, and a host of others); When I find something I want from them, I get the part number, then go to Little British Car Company’s website and order it (see above).  800-667-7872 Moss Motors, Ltd., 440 Rutherford Street, Goleta, CA 93117; http://www.mossmotors.com/Browse/ComponentMenuProducts.aspx?WebCatalogID=8&PlateTypeID=1

§           morSpeed Performance Parts - Selling fiberglass-formed front and rear bumpers, hoods, fender flares, and valences for MGB’s, Triumphs, etc., along with brackets to convert rubber bumper models to chrome bumpers.  Also carries what appears to be a nice line of wind blockers for a very reasonable price.   http://www.morspeedperformance.com/index.cfm

§         Prestige Auto TrimCarpets, seat covers, trunk carpeting kits; great quality & excellent prices; great pre-sales service; Prestige is in England – leave message or send email and they’ll call you back (allow for time zone difference – eight hours later from PST; 5 hours later from EST); Sales@Prestigeautotrim.com http://www.prestigeautotrim.com/usa/usa/mg_home.htm Danny Wilson (800) 659-2649

§         Barry's Classic Cars - Wood dashboard and console kits available in both authenentic-looking synthetic woods and real woods (zebra, rosewood, walnut burl, etc; kits for 1972- 76 and 1977 - 80; currently do not have earlier models.  Prices for real wood about half of Moss Motors' price!  Send email for more information:  barrybarnes@effectivenessgrowth.com

§         Summit RacingMiscellaneous parts & dress up items.  Although they do not sell MGB-specific items, but you can get lots of “dress up” stuff there.  I bought my chromed small block Chevy valve covers that I used to make the cold air intake system and the exhaust cooling cover, along with stainless hose sleeving and numerous other items, along with the oil filter relocation kit, the oil thermostat, racing fuel filter, and several other items.  From them I also got fan relays that will turn my dual MGB radiator fans on independently (the after market ones available from MGB suppliers last only a few months); I also installed one on my exhaust cooling system with auxiliary fans I got from Burden’s Supply Centerhttp://www.summitracing.com/.

§         Local Parts HousesMany MGB-specific items.  Other places included my local parts house (Kragen, NAPA, Pepboys, etc.) for miscellaneous parts and chrome billets for my clutch & brake fluid reservoirs and my oil dipstick extension.  These often carry MGB-specific parts, as well (air filters, alternators, etc) – however, if you ask them, they’ll probably tell you “No.”  Ask them to go ahead and look the part up and they will often be far more surprised than you.

§         Hoses & FittingsSpecialized fittings & stainless steel hoses.  From the local “hoses & fittings” house (in Reno, the company is actually named “Hoses & Fittings, Inc.”), I bought specialized brass parts to make British parts work with American ones (i.e., converting my oil cooler hoses to work with my oil filter relocation kit and my oil thermostat) and for numerous extensions & specials (using an “L” mounted TR6 heater control on the cross-flow head, putting a oil vapor connector on my finned aluminum valve cover, running a vacuum line from my DCOE intake manifold to the brake booster, etc.  They’ll also manufacture real stainless steel hoses at about 1/5th the cost that you can buy them elsewhere.

§         Home Depot / Hardware StoreSpecialized parts for hard-to-do engine projects.  Pieces of flat and “C” aluminum (which I polished with 0000 steel wool) came from Home Depot to manufacture braces for the exhaust cooling fan and to hold the exhaust cooling and cold air intake boxes in place.  I also bought many little “L” braces and nuts & blots for mounting non-standard pieces.

§         Bicycle ShopAccelerator & choke cables.  Nobody makes an accelerator cable long enough to reach the Weber DCOE carbs, so I had one fabricated by a local bicycle shop (using a bicycle brake cable) for the huge price of $10.  Take your old cable in OR a measurement for the new one.

§         Burden’s Surplus Center Engine fans & other electrical items.  From Burden’s, I bought 12 volt fans and mini-fans for exhaust cooling system, underdash switches, and a host of other rare electrical devices.  For my underhood light bar, I used a 30” piece of aluminum “C” channel (¾” x ¾”) along with two dressy truck backup lights from Burden’s, angling the light bar so that the lights point straight down when the hood is raised; the bar has a chromed toggle switch on it to turn it off for car shows.  https://www.surpluscenter.com/home; 800-488-3407 Surplus Center, 1015 West "O" Street, Lincoln, NE  68528

§         BritTek – Variety of performance and regular MGB parts.  I haven't bought from them, but guys I know swear by their knowledge, saying these guys all own and drive high-performance MGB's and can answer any question you have.  http://www.brittek.com/index.html

§     Hagerty Insurance – Classic car insurance; as long as you drive your car less than 2,500 per year, you get ultra-low prices for liability, collision, and replacement insurance; I insure my 70 MGB for $14,000 and my 78 for $20,000, yet my combined ANNUAL premium is only $303, which includes up to four 50-mile tows on each car per year as well as low deductibles on very HIGH protection amounts; (800) 922-4050 auto@hagerty.com http://www.hagerty.com/Auto/vehicle_index.aspx

§     More SourcesIf you buy this car, once you tear into it, send an email of what you’ve found and I’ll do my best to steer you to specific sources of help and parts.  Also, go to my club’s website, the Reno MG – All British Car Club, to the bottom of the Welcome Page and to the Other Links page to see links to other sources of information.

§     NAMBGR Annual MeetingBy the way, the NAMGBR is having its MGB 2007 festival this summer in Sonoma County, California in mid-July.  It would be a chance to meet hundreds – maybe thousands – of B owners, locate many parts, and to attend “how to” Tech Tip seminars.  I’m going as are several members of my car club.

Good luck!  These are wonderful cars.  They’re fun to work on and much great to drive!
